When it comes to cooking, various options for cooking and heating water are available.

Propane or Butane Gas

The benefits of gas are the ease of use, the availability of gas globally however the disadvantages are cold weather (butane) and altitude.

Dual Fuel Stove

The benefits of a dual fuel stove is the ability to use your vehicles fuel. The disadvantages of these stoves are the high maintanance of cleaning the burners and the messy re-fueling process.

Wood

Lighting a fire and cooking on a fire is often restricted to campsites due to the availability of wood. Wood is often not available on extended journeys.

Charcoal

Typically available in Southern and Eastern Africa, charcoal is a cheap item to purchase however it has the disadvantage of being messy to handle and cumbersome to pack.
