Countries fall into a few categories with regards to insurance requirements:
- Nothing Required: The country has no insurance requirements, and presumably you are on your own if you are involved in an accident.
- Mandatory to purchase: The country will force you to buy insurance from the country, irrelevant of other insurance you may have.
- Covered by International insurance: You can use International insurance you may have.
NOTE: Some Overlanders prefer to purchase International insurance before leaving home - this is often extremely expensive and cost prohibitive, so many people give it a miss.
